We have been cooking up something in the background and are SOOOO thrilled to be sharing with you our latest project… Maker March!
What is Maker March?
Maker March is a daily photo challenge meant to bring together makers across crafts and across social media platforms.
Why did you start Maker March?
We absolutely LOVE the photo challenges in the Instagram community (in fact, if it were up to us, we would love to be able to jump into them throughout the whole year)! As we were talking about Sew Altered Style and gearing up for Me Made May, we thought it would be fun to have a photo challenge that incorporated makers of ALL craft types (we are looking at you, Sewists, Knitters, HTV mavens, Upcyclers, Handbag Makers and still to be named crafts) to share your makes, in ways that will link us together! We also wanted to give a cross platform challenge a try, so we will be hosting the challenge both on our Instagram account and in our Facebook Group! Primarily, we are thinking garments and accessories – but hey, maybe there is something we are leaving out!
How do I participate?
There will be a calendar for March (available later this week), with each day having a particular theme. Everyday on our Instagram account and in our Facebook Group, we will share a prompt for the day. To participate on Instagram, all you have to do is to upload a picture and tag @sewalteredstyle and #makermarch2018.
Prizes???
Unfortunately none at this time. This is our first year hosting, and the goal is community building, connecting makers to inspire each other, and filling our feeds with even more creative goodness! Perhaps, as we continue to host in future years, we will look to bring on sponsors! If you would be interested in sponsoring a particular photo challenge day, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us!
